Online CIMA & CPWA Exams: IWI's New Path to Investment Certification

Denver, CO — December 1, 2020 — The Investments & Wealth Institute is pleased to announce that the CIMA® and CPWA® Certification Exams can now be taken online through ProctorU, allowing candidates to complete their certification journey from any location where they have internet access and a computer with a webcam.
“In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, our proctored, in-person exams were no longer an option for many candidates,” said Devin Ekberg, Chief Learning Officer and Managing Director of Professional Development, Investments & Wealth Institute. “Luckily, we had begun expanding exam options to include online proctoring in 2019 with our RMA® certification. We have been working toward online exams for the CIMA® and CPWA® certifications throughout 2020. We are now pleased to now offer our candidates two computer-based-testing options to complete the exam portion of their certification; one, sit for their exam in-person at a Pearson testing center; or two, sit for their exams online with ProctorU.”
Online proctoring is very similar to testing at a testing center. After scheduling an exam online, exam takers check-in via the ProctorU platform and verify identity by providing I.D. to the proctor via the webcam. The proctor then reviews the process and procedures, performs the remote system and room check before administering the test. The proctor maintains contact throughout the entire testing period via webcam. Exam takers will receive their score at the conclusion of the exam.
The new online proctoring capabilities through ProctorU provide candidates:

The fully automated platform not only increases candidate access to online learning but ensures exam integrity and accountability for test-takers.
CIMA®
To sit for the 5-hour long, 140 multiple-choice question computer-based CIMA examination, candidates must pass a comprehensive background check; complete education through one of our registered educational providers, The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, or Yale School of Management; document a minimum of three years of verified work experience in financial services; and sign the Investments & Wealth Institute’s Code of Professional Responsibility, in addition to paying the initial certification fee.
CPWA®
To sit for the 4-hour long, 135 multiple-choice question computer-based CPWA examination, candidates must pass a comprehensive background check; complete education through one of our registered educational providers, The University of Chicago Booth School of Business or Yale School of Management; document a minimum of five years of verified work experience in financial services; and sign the Investments & Wealth Institute’s Code of Professional Responsibility, in addition to paying the initial certification fee.
