CIMA certification is for investment management analysts and fits uniquely in the clear and
uncluttered space between the CFA program – which is perhaps best suited to those who primarily design portfolios of individual securities – and the CFP program – which is perhaps best suited to those who give broadbased financial planning advice. In other words, CIMA certification is specialised to the space between CFA and CFP, and is ideally suited to investment management analysts - both practitioners and advocates - involved in
any aspect of constructing multi-manager portfolios:

For Practitioners:
- investment advisers, researchers/analysts and portfolio managers from private wealth management companies;
- analysts and asset consultants from fund research and fund investment consulting firms;
- researchers/analysts and portfolio managers from multimanager funds management, superannuation and investment platform companies.

For Advocates
- investment professionals not actively and primarily involved in constructing multi-manager portfolios;
- business/non-investment professionals from any firm.

Why I Earned MY CIMA Certification:
Institutional Members

Andrew Heyden, Institutional Business Development Manager - Aberdeen Asset Management
  • "The CIMA programme provided the perfect platform to refresh my industry knowledge with the added bonus of networking with peers, and also ensures an on-going commitment to professional development."
Isaac Kuruvilla, Manager, Investment Services - Sydney Diocesan Secretariat
  • "Doing CIMA in 2011 was a great experience. Having been recommended the course by a past graduate, I am glad I went through and completed the program. Level 1 gives a great summary of different issues relating to the investment management industry, with a great focus on learning the basics, which I found extremely helpful. Level 2 was intense but rewarding. It focused more on current thinking and trends. The high calibre of the lecturers and the UTS staff is testimony to the CIMA course and CIMA Society of Australia. I look forward to using CIMA and its related network and professional learning opportunities to further my career."
Michael Sykes, Deputy CEO & Executive Manager, Finance - MTAA Superannuation Fund
  • "I found the CIMA program challenging and rewarding. The broad content, the quality of the presenters and particularly the opportunity for interaction with other participants from across the wealth industry made the commitment to the program well worthwhile."
Olivia Moretti, Investment Analyst - Funds SA
  • "The CIMA Program was an intensive but rewarding experience that covered a wide range of topics relating to the investment process. The residential component in particular provided a good mixture of presentations by a range of knowledgeable lecturers, along with both group and individual study sessions."
Paul Newfield, Senior Investment Consultant -Towers Watson
  • "CIMA was (as I was warned) a challenging but very rewarding studying program and for me, the residential course was the stand out. The quality of the lecturers and their varied views and experiences really were the icing on the cake. While intense, the week helped me to consolidate all the areas of investment thoughts. It was a great experience and there is much to be said about 'sharing the pain' with others. The week also provided a great opportunity to discuss the industry, current markets and various themes prevalent in the industry today, and most importantly how it all these areas can be translated into practical solutions for the benefit of clients. I found the course useful and would strongly encourage others to do it!"
