In this exclusive webinar, Tony Davidow, CIMA®, interviews Bruce Stewart, CIMA®, CAIA®, Managing Director of Investment Strategy at Pitcairn. They will discuss regime-based asset allocation as an alternative asset allocation approach, allocations across various regimes, and some of the inherent limitations. They also will discuss the pros and cons of various approaches, including: modern portfolio theory (MPT), post-MPT, Black-Litterman, liability-driven investing, risk parity, and goals-based Investing. In addition, the discussion will delve into whether the “60/40” portfolio still makes sense, the role alternative investments play in building portfolios, and whether advisors should be more tactical in positioning clients’ portfolios.

Speaker

Bruce D. Stewart, CAIA®, CIMA®​, Managing Director of Client Investment Strategy

Bruce brings over 25 years of family office and investment experience to the firm. He is responsible for supporting Pitcairn’s chief investment officer on investment and wealth management-related issues impacting clients. Along with managing the investment team, he serves as the relationship manager to a select set of client families. He also conducts capital market and economic research to shape and support investment decisions and educate clients and client-facing professionals on key economic and financial market issues. 

Bruce’s background in the family office and institutional investment industry includes specializing in manager research portfolio construction, risk analytics, product development and investment thought leadership. Before joining Pitcairn, he served as Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer of the family office group at BNY-Mellon and Director of US Investments at Citibank Global Markets. Prior to that, he served as Co-Head of Investments at Toronto Dominion Bank and Co-Founder & Chief Investment Officer for a Boston-based multi-family office.

A graduate of Purdue University, Bruce earned a bachelor’s degree in science from the School of Technology. Bruce holds the designations of Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA®) and Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®). His professional certifications include the Investment Strategist Certificate and the Alternative Investment Certificate, issued by The Wharton School and IMCA. Over the years, he has published multiple white papers, presented at several investment conferences, and has been an exam writer for the CIMA® and CAIA® designations.

Born and raised in Paraguay, Bruce is fluent in Spanish and proficient in Guaraní and Portuguese. He also maintains connections in the Boston area, where he serves on the Board of Directors for The Home for Little Wanderers and the Advisory Board for the Latino Legacy Foundation (Boston Foundation).
