June 9, 2026 - Denver, CO — As advisors weigh income options against a backdrop of elevated Treasury yields and concentrated equity markets, Lauris Lambergs, Vice Chair of Professional Development for the Investments & Wealth Institute, offered his perspective in a recent InvestmentNews feature.
Lambergs spoke to the importance of keeping the total return picture in mind, noting that dividend-producing equities can make a compelling long-term case when the underlying fundamentals are sound.
He also cautioned advisors to be mindful of a "yield trap"—where the yield ratio increases due to a falling share price rather than a growing dividend.
"Ideally, the ratio of the dividend to earnings, or free cash flow, is sustainable, allowing both for sufficient reinvestment into the company with a nice return to the shareholder," Lambergs said.
