Social Media Governance

Follow these guidelines to properly display your CIMA® and/or CPWA® certification(s) on LinkedIn and Twitter, in accordance with the Institute’s Rules and Guidelines for Use of the Marks. These guidelines also detail how to display successful completion of The Institute's certificate programs on your personal LinkedIn profile.

Twitter: You may only include “CIMA” and/or “CPWA” after your name if you continue to meet the ongoing recertification requirements every two years. The CIMA and/or CPWA Certification:

  • Should not be included in your Twitter handle, e.g. not @JohnSmithCIMA or @MaryJonesCPWA
  • Should only appear in the section of your profile that contains your surname and given name
  • Should not be included with a pseudonym or fictitious phrase meant to hide your identity

LinkedIn: The Certifications section of your LinkedIn profile is specifically designed to display professional certifications and credentials, and is the most appropriate place to display your status as a CIMA certificant or CPWA certificant. Please bear in mind that if you are not currently certified, you should explicitly state that your certification is no longer active. Instructions are provided below.

Note: The Experience section is for displaying your employment experience. To avoid giving the impression that you are an employee of The Institute, do not list your CIMA or CPWA certification here.
