Investments & Wealth Institute Expands Collaboration with Yale School of Management
to Launch Online CPWA Certification Program
Yale School of Management joins University of Chicago Booth School of Business
as education providers of the Certified Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA) Certification Program
The Investments & Wealth Institute™
(“The Institute”), formerly the Investment Management Consultants Association® (IMCA®), is pleased to announce that it has expanded its collaboration with the Yale School of Management
(Yale SOM) to launch an online Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA®) Certification Program
. The new program – the first of its kind – will begin in early 2018.
“Premier education that offers a unique blend of Ivy League level expertise and practical application has been a strong focus for our organization for more than 30 years. We are delighted to expand our work with Yale to deliver the CPWA certification program online because it opens up the opportunity for many seasoned practitioners to enhance their skills while maintaining their busy practices,” said Sean Walters, CAE, chief executive officer. “This new flexibility for earning the CPWA online reflects the Institute’s deep commitment to provide the best education for advanced investment and wealth management practitioners so that they may enhance their relevance in a global, highly competitive marketplace.”
CPWA certification is an advanced wealth management program created specifically for professionals working with high-net-worth clients. Advisors who earn the certification have demonstrated advanced knowledge and skills in private wealth management, which includes learning how to navigate family dynamics and behavioral biases, how to develop sophisticated tax, investment and asset protection strategies for closely held business owners, executives and high-net-worth individuals in retirement, and legacy planning through charitable giving and estate planning.
To qualify for CPWA certification, applicants must meet several pre-requisites including a five year minimum experience requirement. Following acceptance, candidates complete a six-month online course, followed by a six-day executive education program at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Commencing in 2018, candidates will have an additional option for completing the education requirement through Yale’s executive education program online. Following successful completion of the education requirement, candidates must pass a four-hour, comprehensive certification examination.
Since 2016, Yale School of Management has offered an online executive education program as part of the Certified Investment Management Analyst® certification
. “The online learning option provides a significant value-add for executive education students, and we are excited to be the first to offer this option to financial professionals interested in earning their CPWA certification,” said Jim Dobbs, CIMA®, CFP®, CPWA®, program director, Yale School of Management. “We expect a high level of interest in the online CPWA program based on our success with the CIMA program launched last year.”
The University of Chicago Booth School of Business will continue to deliver an in-depth, on-campus executive education experience for CPWA candidates, as it has done since 2008.
