This issue of the Journal of Investment Consulting brings together interviews and research that address long-standing questions in investment management alongside emerging developments in financial markets.
The issue opens with a conversation with Jeremy Siegel, whose book Stocks for the Long Run demonstrated that equities outperform bonds with lower volatility of real returns over extended horizons, inspiring generations of investors to adopt long-term strategies. True to his philosophy, Siegel emphasizes disciplined investing and inflation awareness, and cautions against overreacting to short-term market swings or media hype.
We continue with an interview with Andrew Lo, who reflects on the development of his adaptive markets hypothesis, which reconciles the efficient-market hypothesis and persistent empirical anomalies. Lo discusses insights from behavioral finance, neuroscience, and evolutionary biology, as well as his efforts to apply securitization and debt financing to biomedical innovation and drug development.
